How to find people who are hiring right now: Looking for your next remote gig or impact-driven opportunity? You’ve probably noticed that job boards aren’t always the most efficient way to find the real opportunities out there — especially the ones that haven’t made it to formal listings yet.
But here’s the good news: a lot of hiring actually happens quietly. People post about it, talk about it, or even ask their network before a job ever becomes an official post. So if you’re just scrolling through job boards, you might be missing the best stuff.
Here’s a smarter way to find the humans behind the hiring — and connect directly.

1. Search Smarter on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is more than just a digital CV platform — it’s a goldmine of real-time hiring activity. You just need to know where (and how) to look.
💡 Use keywords people actually post when they’re hiring — things like:
- “We’re hiring”
- “Looking for a…”
- “Join our team”
- “Know someone who…”
Now pair that with what you’re looking for — your role, your industry, your ideal location or “remote”.
Examples:
“Looking for a project manager” AND remote“We’re hiring” AND sustainability“Join our team” AND “UX designer” AND Berlin
Then filter:
- Choose “Posts” to find the latest updates.
- Use the “Past Week” or “Past Month” filter to catch fresh opportunities.
2. Look for the Humans Behind the Job
Sometimes the fastest route to an opportunity is a direct conversation — not an application form.
Try this:
- Search “I’m hiring” or “We’re growing our team” under the People tab.
- Add filters like location, company or industry to narrow it down.
- When you find someone relevant, don’t be afraid to connect with a short, kind note. You’re not asking for a job — you’re starting a conversation.
3. Follow People in the Know
Some hiring managers, founders, or recruiters are super active on LinkedIn — and they often post about roles before they go public.
Here’s what you can do:
- Find 5–10 people in your target industry who regularly share about hiring or team growth.
- Follow them.
- Turn on the notification bell so you don’t miss their posts.
Bonus: engage with their content. That way, when you do reach out, you’re not a stranger in the crowd.
4. Don’t Forget the Comments Section
One underrated tip: check the comments! When someone posts about hiring, people often tag others looking for work — and those people might be great to connect with, too. Or someone might say “We’re hiring too!” in a reply.
There’s a whole mini-network hidden in those threads. Tap into it.
5. Ask, Don’t Wait
Still not seeing the roles you want? Create a post yourself. Let people know what you’re looking for. Be specific. Show your enthusiasm.
You might be surprised how many people tag a friend, send you a link, or offer to chat.
