Our names are Ana and LĂgia, and we are Nomads & Pirates’ founders. For us, this is more than just a projectâit’s a thriving community and resource hub designed to empower you in social impact jobs, purposeful careers, and remote work adventures.
đ Nomads & Pirates founders: Our Story
Nomads & Pirates was born from our shared passion for travel, remote work, and community. We met during a remote work retreat and quickly realized the power of combining our expertise.
Iâm Ana, a sociologist, life coach, activist, yoga instructor, and author of the blog âAna, Go Slowlyâ and the book âVida Lixo Zero (Zero Waste Life).â With nearly a decade of experience in IT as a trainer, software tester, and project manager, I founded the Zero Waste Portugal movement and am dedicated to inspiring change towards a simpler, more sustainable, and happier life. Through hundreds of workshops and lectures, I passionately advocate for sustainability, minimalism, and conscious living. As co-founder of Nomads & Pirates, I leverage my expertise in IT, sustainability, and life coaching to empower individuals to navigate purposeful careers while embracing the spirit of adventure.
Iâm LĂgia, a true citizen of the world with a global perspective shaped by visits to more than 70 countries. With a background in pharmaceutical sciences, anthropology, and international development, I co-founded Peggada, a discovery platform for sustainable and social impact projects. My belief in interdisciplinary learning drives my diverse career, from working with the World Food Programme (United Nations) to writing my masterâs thesis on âDigital Nomad Nation.â As the General Manager of Remote Year in Portugal from 2016 to 2019, I supported and welcomed digital nomads, enhancing their experiences and fostering a vibrant community. Join me on a journey towards a more inclusive, sustainable, and adventurous world, advocating for human, animal, and environmental rights.
